This is an example of good composition because you can focus on the main object in the picture which is the ball.

Bad Composition

This is an example of bad composition because though the colors direct your eyes where to look, its too confusing. There's the cake the card and the balloon. You look at one but then you're distracted immediately by the other objects in this picture.
